Position Overview

The Contracts Review Specialist works closely with Stantec’s lawyers, Project Managers, and project staff to provide assistance and expertise in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contract terms for professional services in accordance with Stantec policies.

Key Responsibilities

- Review, draft and negotiate contract documents and requests for proposals following Stantec legal and other policies.
- Identify and communicate negotiation items and other contract issues that must be resolved between Stantec and clients, subconsultants, and contractors before contract execution.
- Assist in negotiating contractual issues with clients when requested.
- Review and analyze contract exceptions and modifications submitted by clients.
- Customize standard contract forms for specific projects when necessary.
- Keep management informed of contract negotiation status and issues.
- Enter contract information and other data into the database.





Capabilities and Credentials

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Access, Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in professional-level English; proficiency in French is an asset.
- Strong proofreading skills with keen attention to detail and ability to learn recent concepts quickly.
- ‘Can‑do’ attitude and willingness to assist with other administrative tasks as needed.

Education and Experience

- Two years of experience in contract work or equivalent formal education.
- Minimum educational achievement equivalent to high‑school graduation, with significant work experience in professional services or construction contracts.
- Legal assistant, paralegal, or related formal education is an asset.
