Job Summary
The Program Supervisor isaccountable for the daily operations of the program and ensures thatoperational and quality standards are always maintained. Works to ensure asafe, well maintained, and healthy environment
Staff Supervision
- Provides supervision, direction, coaching and assistance to ResidentialSupport Workers in the completion of daily operating tasks and routines
- Supervises staff by performing duties such as assigning work,providing feedback and evaluation, orienting new staff, and maintainingtimekeeping and attendance records. Resolves staffing problems, includingcalling in staff to ensure appropriate staffing levels
- Supervises medication administration and is accountable forensuring accuracy and completeness of administration and documentation for themedication program
- Orients, trains, supervises, and evaluates new employees,volunteers and practicum students on shift responsibilities and routines andreports to supervisory position
- Motivates staff team to maintain and exceed agency workstandards. This position does not involve hiring, firing, or discipliningemployees
- Ensures that all documentation for shift tasks, responsibilitiesand routines are completed
- Performs other tasks and duties as required.
Client Support
- Role Modeling-Acts as a positive role model for clients. Teachesclients effective social and interpersonal skills through tasks of appropriatedaily living and social activities
- Environmental Support - Contributes to maintaining a therapeuticenvironment following therapeutic community principles which encourageawareness of inter-dependence of community members, and the value ofresponsible concern for self and others
- Monitors - residents' behavior and activities and reports toprogram director, if necessary
Qualifications
- Diploma inCommunity Social Service
- 2years of experience working with marginalized populations, substance useservices, mental health, corrections, etc., or equivalent
- Experience in a non-profitsetting is an asset
- Satisfactory completion of a criminalrecords check with vulnerable sector screening is required
- Satisfactory completion of TuberculosisScreening form is required
- Satisfactory completion of EmployeeImmunization Record form is required
- First aid certification with CPR isrequired
- Satisfactory completion of Nonviolent crisis intervention (NVCI)
- Valid Class 5 driver’slicense is required
Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word,Excel, and database management systems
- Knowledge of and ability to operatestandard office equipment, including: telephone system, fax machine,photocopier, printer, and computerized building security monitoring system
- High level of integrity and dependabilitywith a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
- Strong problem solving, analytical, andcreative skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisionsbased on accurate and timely analyses
- Strong interpersonal skills and abilityto communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English
