From highways and bridges to government buildings and registration of vehicles, safety and quality of life are our top priorities. We support Nova Scotia’s 23,000 kilometres of roads and highways, 4,100 bridges, and 9 provincial ferries. The Fleet Services Division ensures that our fleet operates safely and efficiently across the province.ResponsibilitiesMaintain and repair a variety of equipment including Utility Tractors, Rubber Tire Loaders, Graders, Tandem Trucks, and associated attachments such as wings, plows, and sweepers.Diagnose equipment malfunctions, perform preventive maintenance, and make adjustments to ensure optimal performance.Use mechanical tools, diagnostic technology, electrical schematics, dealer‑purchased engine programs, and online service manuals to troubleshoot and service vehicles.Maintain a clean and secure work environment; wear and keep provided personal protective equipment.Coordinate on‑call service outside normal hours to resolve breakdowns promptly.Qualifications and ExperienceHigh school equivalent and an Inter‑Provincial Red Seal Certificate of Qualification in Truck and Transport.Minimum five (5) years of diversified mechanical experience.Proficiency with computer‑controlled engine diagnostic technology, electrical schematics, and dealer‑purchased engine programs.Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 driver’s license with a satisfactory driver abstract; Air Brake endorsement is an asset.Knowledge or certification in Air Conditioning and Motor Vehicle Inspection license are considered assets.Strong communication skills, initiative,
