Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for supporting the upkeep, functionality, and safe operation of the facility, equipment, and production environment. The Maintenance Technician II will primarily be based out of our Abbotsford CNC Facility, but they will be expected to support BD Diesel’s other facilities in Abbotsford when requested. This hands‑on role includes general building maintenance, preventative maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, fabrication and welding projects. The position also performs routine facility cleanliness, material handling support tasks, and assists in maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety‑conscious, and capable of working independently while following established procedures and maintenance standards.

Monday - Friday

7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Pay

$30.00-$40.00 / Per Hour

Requirements

- Conduct small machine preventative maintenance, including filter and oil changes.
- Complete welding, construction, and fabrication projects, including building tables, carts, shelving units, and other small metal or woodworking projects.
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing duties in support of the Communicable Disease Prevention Plan.
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, conduct tests and make adjustments if necessary.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
- Set priorities for preventative maintenance and maintenance requisitions.
- Sweep floors, remove garbage, and maintain organized work areas.
- Remove cardboard and maintain the cardboard compactor.
- Remove and recycle pallets and scrap metal.
- Perform yard clean‑up and exterior maintenance as required.
- Operate hand and power tools safely, including grinders, skill saws, hammer drills, and other shop tools.
- Measure materials accurately using tape measures and calipers.
- Assemble shelving units and workplace equipment from suppliers.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while following company procedures and safety standards.




- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Management.

Education, Certificates & Licenses

- High School diploma or equivalent required; completion of a trade school, technical training, or vocational program in mechanical, electrical, welding, millwright, or industrial maintenance is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in a maintenance technician, facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, or similar hands‑on mechanical role preferred.
- Basic welding, fabrication, and repair experience considered an asset.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands‑on experience using tools, equipment, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and basic maintenance equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial workplace considered an asset.
- Class 1 Counterbalanced Forklift Operator Certificate preferred.
- Class 3 Power Pallet Jack Operator Certificate preferred.
- Work Assist Vehicle (WAV) Operator Certificate preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and respond to maintenance needs in a timely manner.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively with employees, supervisors, and other departments.
