- Operation and care of the iceresurfacing equipment and monitoring operation of HVAC and refrigerationsystems.
- Performs a variety of cleaning, general maintenance and repair tasksthroughout the facility.
- Provides excellent customer service to facilityclients.

The Design Works Centre isa premier tournament and ice competition Centre in the region. The facility has two year round NHL sizedice surfaces used for hockey, figure skating, speed skating, sledge hockeyand public skating. The Design Works Centre is conveniently located at the hub for recreation and sport - theCommunity Knowledge Campus.

Responsibilities

The primary function of the Arena Attendant is toensure safe, inviting and quality ice surfaces. Performs general maintenance, set-up,cleaning and repair duties. Monitorsoperation of the physical plant including heating, ventilation and airconditioning and refrigeration systems.Operates and maintains equipment required for performance of dutiesincluding skid steer, ice resurface, snow clearing and related equipment. Installs, removes and maintains icesurfaces.

The successfulapplicant will have:

- A valid Class 5Driver's License.
- Level I Arena OperatorCertification (asset).
- Level II Arena OperatorCertification (asset).
- Current experience inthe cleaning and upkeep of a multi-purpose recreation facility with ice.
- Self-starting attitudeand the ability to make decisions.
- Proven experiencesolving problems with an exceptional service approach.
- Ability to work well ina high stress team workplace.

The successfulapplicant will demonstrate a positive and professional manner through tactfulcommunication (both verbal and written) with co-workers and customers. Additionally, he/she will beself-motivated, organizing his/her work to clean the facility, perform minormaintenance tasks and maintain the ice surfaces within established facilitystandards. This individual must becomfortable making operational & customer service decisions if thesupervisor is not available.

Hours

Casual, call-in basis, this position can fulfill any shift within our operational hours. Operational hours are Monday to Sunday, 6:00 am to 2:00am.

Arena Attendant - $35.79 per hour as per CUPE Collective Agreement
