As part of the Development Services team, you'll be a technical expert responsible for assessing permit applications for recent constructions and renovations. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of safety codes, coordination with community partners, and general problem-solving skills. Your contributions will directly impact the integrity of Edmonton’s built environment, ensuring safety and quality at every step.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct detailed plans examinations for compliance
• Issue, suspend, or revoke building permits as necessary
• Consult on complex code interpretations with authorities
• Prepare legal agreements and coordinate with multiple departments
• Provide expert building code advice to contractors and developers
Requirements:
• Journeyman certification plus 5 years of experience
• OR a 2-year technology diploma with 7 years of experience
• OR an engineering or architecture degree with relevant experience
• Registered as a Safety Codes Officer in Alberta
• Proficient in plan review software and data entry
