The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) invites applications for a full time contract faculty position at the rank of Lecturer . This will be a joint appointment with the Department of Biomedical Sciences and the Department of Pathology and Microbiology , and the contract is a 3-year term .
Contract renewal will be based on performance, program requirements, and budgetary considerations.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will collaborate with discipline-specialist faculty to deliver laboratory-based teaching in veterinary microscopic anatomy, parasitology, bacteriology, and clinical pathology. The candidate will also participate in problem-based learning tutorials for veterinary students. Contribution to service and scholarly activity in relevant fields, including the scholarship of education, is expected. Other teaching and scholarly opportunities may be identified based on candidate interest and program needs.
Qualifications:
- Have a DVM (or equivalent) degree
- Be strongly motivated to teach
- Have well-developed skills of collaboration, relationship-building, and communication
- Be a lifelong learner, eager to maintain skills and knowledge updated to contemporary standards in veterinary medicine and veterinary education
Preference will be given to candidates with relevant clinical or diagnostic experience, teaching experience, or post-graduate training.
The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. UPEI faculty receive a comprehensive fringe benefits package with benefit details provided at the time of offer in accordance with the collective agreement. This appointment is subject to budgetary approval.
