(employee will be working with or have access to children or vulnerable adults and requires a Criminal Record Check) No Job Description In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Through an innovative partnership formed in 2015 with the Specialists Services Committee (SSC), Island Health is undertaking an enhanced approach to quality improvement, which includes providing physicians an opportunity to lead quality initiatives. With approved funding for multiple years, a number of staff including the Data Consultant, Specialist Services Committee (SSC) Regional Quality Improvement (QI), will be tasked to support the efforts of this initiative. While administrative reporting will be to the Manager, Strategic Information, this position will have a matrix reporting relationship to the Regional QI Steering Committee and the SSC Initiative Lead. The Data Consultant, SSC Regional QI, is a key player of a team responsible for advancing physician quality improvement initiatives within the Island Health region. This role provides leadership in analyzing complex clinical datasets, providing interpretive advice, and supporting strategic decision-making to advance program goals.
Through collaboration with multiple teams, the Data Consultant, conducts statistical analyses, offers interpretive advice, and participates in modeling clinical data. A strong commitment to customer service is paramount in this position, alongside a comprehensive understanding of healthcare data and information management. The Specialist Services Committee (SSC) was formed in 2006 under the Physician Master Agreement to help the Doctors of BC, BC Government and health authorities collaborate on the delivery of specialist services and support improvement of the specialist care system in BC. Education, Training And Experience
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's degree in a relevant discipline such as Health Informatics, Statistics or Social Sciences and five (5) years' progressive experience working in an analytical capacity in a health services environment. Skills And Abilities
Ability to manipulate, analyse and interpret clinical data using complex statistical concepts and methodologies and present complex information in a manner that meets client needs. Proficiency with analytical software (including SQL, Excel, R, Tableau); experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products an asset. Strong analytical and statistical skills. Demonstrated knowledge of research design and methods. Experience working with an enterprise data warehouse. Solid verbal, written and presentation skills. Project management skills an asset. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Ability to multitask and handle competing demands. Broad understanding of current issues, challenges and future directions of health care delivery in Canada. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. The salary range for this position is $90,770(min) to $113,462 (midpoint) to $130,481 (max) per annum (based on 1 FTE).
