Support First Nation women in their childbirth journey as an Indigenous Birth Helper with Wiijii’idiwag Ikwewag. Provide culturally protected services both at Thompson General Hospital and Winnipeg to enhance prenatal and postpartum experiences.
Join Wiijii’idiwag Ikwewag Inc. and the First Nations Health and Social Secretariat of Manitoba as they relaunch birth helper services through the Ikiskawasoot project. This role emphasizes the importance of traditional cultural teachings and requires strong interpersonal skills for working with diverse families. You will also create support plans and reports to enhance care.
Key Responsibilities:
• Offer dedicated birth support in hospital settings
• Build effective relationships with mothers and families




• Create wellness plans and document meetings
• Utilize Microsoft Office for reporting and planning
• Assist in developing culturally safe care practices
Requirements:
• Grade 12 diploma and Indigenous Doula certification
• Minimum 3 years in First Nation health services
• Flexibility for evening and weekend work
• Valid MB Class 5 Driver’s License
• Successful Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
