Position Overview The Manager, Tax will be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant filing of corporate income tax returns and tax provisions in Canada. This role is responsible for the coordination and preparation of the Company’s Canadian quarterly and annual tax provision in compliance with US GAAP, as well as other tax related matters. Duties also include planning, researching and implementing applicable tax statutes, regulations and procedures and assisting with other special projects as directed by management. This role requires strong technical tax accounting expertise, exceptional analytical skills, and a hands‑on approach to reviewing complex calculations, supporting documentation, and disclosures.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the preparation of Canadian federal and provincial income and mining tax returns and estimated payments
Prepare income tax provisions (current and deferred) quarterly
Manage the deferred tax inventory and tax pools
Prepare tax journal entries and tax account reconciliations
Partner with Corporate Accounting, FP&A;, Legal, and Treasury to understand business drivers impacting the tax provision
Development of tax accounting, reporting and planning procedures in response to tax legislature/regulatory policy
Assist with indirect tax filings and projects
Manage relationships with external accounting firms on technical issues
Research technical issues and identify federal and provincial tax opportunities.
Draft technical memos documenting conclusions, positions, as well as supporting rationale
Coordinate effective tax rate planning, including rate modeling and researching income tax accounting issuesFoster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
Development of tax data/accounting procedures for internal use
Administrative support and documentation for the company’s federal and provincial tax audits
Assists with other tasks and special projects including Sarbanes Oxley compliance processes
Qualifications Experience
BS/BA in Accounting; MS-Tax preferred; CA or CPA designation preferred
Approximately 5-8 years of Canadian income tax experience with an auditing firm and/or public companies including 3+ years of hands‑on tax accounting and reporting experience
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-volume environment, managing multiple projects
International tax experience preferred
Strong problem solving and analytical abilities
Strong attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and see projects through to completion
Experience with Oracle ERP preferred
Compensation The salary range offered for this role is CAD $116,000 - 166,000 range. The salary range is a good-faith estimate. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Coeur Mining will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Coeur Mining. Coeur Mining provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits, health benefits, paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well‑being perks. Coeur Mining also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
