The Ponoka Home Care program serves a large area of clients including the community of Ponoka and surrounding areas. We work closely with community groups, other health care services in the community and as part of a multidisciplinary team. As members of the multidisciplinary health care team, Licensed Practical Nurse’s working within their scope of practice, collaborate on the delivery of care to meet the needs of clients. LPN’s assist with the provision of nursing care to individuals in all developmental stages, contribute to the nursing diagnosis, and participate in nursing interventions and outcomes.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills.



You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Required Qualifications

- Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications

- Minimum three (3) years community nursing experience.
- Physically able to perform all assigned tasks and may involve physical exertion not limited to climbing stairs, walking outside, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and carrying which may involve visits to client homes that are not ideal.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with Connect Care, Care Manager, Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
