Job Description

About Your New Role
Reporting to the Supervisor, Mine Engineering, the Mine Technical Services Associate Co‑op Intern will support various mine‑engineering positions (planning and scheduling, surveying, ventilation, ground control, projects, etc.). Responsibilities include creating, designing, and developing best practices regarding mining engineering processes, procedures, and practices to support achievement of targets. The Intern will model a safety program that promotes a culture of safety and health for all employees working in or with the Technical Services Department.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Work with the planning team to create professional short‑to‑medium‑term planning strategies and provide execution guidance to mining processes.
- Create production and development designs that meet industry standards and continually seek opportunities for improved design performance.
- Develop/assist with medium‑term ventilation strategy and use to maintain short‑term ventilation requirements.
- Assist in maintaining Ground Control standards through fieldwork and analysis.
- Interact with the entire Technical Services team to ensure team focus.
- Adhere to programs, systems, and procedures in mine design.
- Analyze data and provide technical documentation to support decision‑making.
- Take on mine‑related projects (Surface Ventilation Upgrade, Underground Ventilation Construction, Feasibility Studies, Equipment procurement, Prepare AFE packages, etc.).
- Engage and interact with business partners across the organization to identify and implement improvement and operational excellence opportunities.
- Use operational excellence resources and methodologies to maintain a high standard of quality in all work.
- Create and manage reports on performance and devise strategies and take any necessary actions to rectify deficiencies.
- Create a strong safety culture through engagement and empowering others.
- Any other duties as assigned by the department.
Your Knowledge And Skills
- Expert level organizational skills and ability to multi‑task.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills – able to work and communicate with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization, along with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- High attention to detail, strong work ethic.
- Effectively prioritize duties and solve problems.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing environment with the utmost professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.
- As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must possess a security screening document or equivalent document as defined by the Mines Regulations, 2018. The candidate must maintain the documentation throughout employment at their own expense and provide confirmation of the same and advise the employer of any changes to, revocation of or suspension of the document during the term of their employment.
Your Education And Experience
- Candidate will be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mine or Geological Engineering.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ education experience.
About Our Working Conditions
This position has a schedule of 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off at our remote camp which you will be required to fly in and fly out with pickup points in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and La Ronge.
