About the BCLDB:

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis, and operates the retails brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

About this role:

The Disability Case Management Advisor is a professional who handles a high volume of complex situations with tact, diplomacy and sensitivity. Working in a unionized environment, the Disability Case Management Advisor must interpret and apply Collective Agreement language. The Disability Case Management Advisor uses a combination of empathy, strong analytical skills, and a keen attention to detail,



to make decisions and recommendations.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Employee Health Services, the Disability Case Management Advisor works closely with LDB stakeholders to administer all aspects of disability claims. This includes gathering the necessary documentation to support absences, return to work and accommodations. The advisor is responsible for the co-ordination of a variety of services flowing from the Short-Term Illness and Injury Plan (STIIP), long term disability and WorkSafeBC programs that are available to LDB employees.

Special requirements and working conditions include the ability to travel occasionally, and possibly overnight, within the Province of British Columbia. The successful candidate may be required to work from either the Burnaby or Delta location. A successful completion of a criminal record check is required.

Position requirements:

Education and Experience:

- Degree, diploma or certificate in disability management or related field and a minimum of two (2) years of recent, related progressive experience* in disability management, or claims management.

OR

- Secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent certificate and four (4) years of recent, related progressive experience* in disability management or claims management.

*Recent, related progressive experience must have occurred within the last six (6) years and must include the following:

- Managing complex disability cases, applying disability management principles and best practices.
- Interpreting and applying legislation and/or policy.




- Providing expert guidance, coaching and advice on disability case management.

Preference may be given to those candidates with any of the following:

- Experience with occupational (WorkSafeBC) claims.
- Experience in assessing and managing workplace accommodations.
- Experience with attendance management programs.
- Experience interpreting collective agreements.
- Developing and/or facilitating education/coaching sessions.
