Pump Technician II – All Locations
The Pump Technician II is an intermediate-level role responsible for independently performing pump inspections, diagnostics, and repairs. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills in centrifugal pump systems, electrical systems, and trailer-related issues. Pump Technicians II play a vital role in customer satisfaction by installing and servicing pumps at job sites and supporting Pump Technician I employees with training and mentorship.
Pump Technician II applies advanced troubleshooting and independent repair skills. Successful completion prepares individuals for advancement to Pump Technician III, where they will take on leadership responsibilities, complex diagnostics, and mentorship of junior technicians.
Type
Full-Time, Hourly, Must be available to work assigned shifts, with flexibility for overtime, weekends, and emergency call-ins.
Participation in the on-call rotation is required.
Location
Branch-based with regular travel to customer sites for field repairs and troubleshooting.
Industries
Municipal Water, Wastewater Treatment, Sewer Bypass, Lift Station Bypass, Dewatering, Construction Dewatering, Fluid Transfer, Industrial Maintenance, Utilities, Infrastructure, and Environmental.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain active participation in the company’s Safety Culture.
- Apply Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and proper setup of suction/discharge systems.
- Identify and mitigate risks at job sites through cribbing, spill protection, and safety barriers.
Diagnostics & Technical Operations
- Perform full inspections of pumps independently (excluding specialty pumps).
- Diagnose and repair pump ends, priming systems, and electrical systems (starters, alternators, wiring).
- Troubleshoot centrifugal pump performance using pump curves.
- Diagnose and repair trailer issues including wheels, tires, bearings, and electrical systems
Field Service & Customer Support
- Travel to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, and repair pumps.
- Conduct pressure tests and hydrostatic testing to verify pump performance.
- Provide technical support and ensure customer satisfaction in office.
Team Development
- Assist in training and mentoring Pump Technician I employees.
- Share technical knowledge and promote safety practices.
Desired Experience
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills with pump and trailer systems.
- Proficient in using pump curves for diagnostics.
- Completion of Pipe Fusion training.
- Physically able to lift up to 100 lbs and work in strenuous environments.
- Must be safety-oriented, flexible, and customer-service driven.
