Rate of Pay: $30.92 to $35.45 per hour

Main Function: Perform assigned operational and maintenance duties in CGS water facilities.

Characteristic: Under the supervision of a Water Supervisor or the Quality Compliance Officer.

Duties

- Assist Operators and tradespersons in the performance of their duties. Relieve Operator during his/her absence.
- Perform assigned inspections of the facilities and preventive maintenance duties of all equipment, buildings, and sites to ensure facility is operating effectively.
- Record operational data. Collect samples and/or perform routine laboratory tests.
- Will be required to work on a seven (7) day/twenty-four (24) hour schedule or standby schedule, as directed.
- Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education and Training

- Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) Education.
- Successful completion of a relevant two (2) year post-secondary diploma from a recognized college considered an asset.
- Applicants must be certified as Operator-in-Training and obtain certification as Water Treatment Level 1 and Water Distribution Level 1 within 18 months. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain certification in good standing.
- Current First Aid, CPR and WHMIS safety training considered an asset.

Experience

- Water treatment and distribution operating experience considered an asset.

Other Requirements

- This role requires the use of tight-fitting respirators and employees must be clean-shaven where the mask seals. This is a Bona Fide Occupational Requirement (BFOR) under human rights legislation.
- Must be able to complete operational logs and checklists, and CMMS work orders
- Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying 20 kgs.
- Ability to perform confined space duties, including entry, mandatory.
- Ability to use related software programs such as CMMS, MS Office.
- Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
- Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.




- Provide, at own cost, a current Criminal Record Check.
- Provide, at own cost, a Respirator Fit Test.
- May require the use of a CGS vehicle on CGS business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver's license, and have an acceptable driving record.

This position is also being posted as a development opportunity. If there are no applicants who currently hold their Operator-in-Training certification, applicants with related experience who are able obtain this certification within six months of hire may be considered for this position as a development opportunity.

Development prospect rate of pay: $29.37 to $33.68 per hour. The successful candidate will be paid at the reduced rate until the minimum qualifications have been met.
