Job Summary

- Act as Technical Engineering Manager on complex/critical hyperscale data center facility components, owning all engineering activities undertaken by product and discipline engineers.
- Collaborate with Sales, Project Manager, Project Services, Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing Plant to execute the product delivery/project in line with sold requirements and client expectations within mechanical and structural disciplines.
- Manage a multi‑disciplinary team of engineers.
- Lead or oversee all mechanical and structural technical activities and discussions within the team, project, or product line.
- Facilitate integration of new team members as workload demands increase and mentor engineers, providing training as required.
- Fully responsible for all mechanical and structural engineering aspects of the overall product line, both within and outside dedicated projects.
- Manage all mechanical and structural technical aspects and designs for all products within the product line portfolio across multiple orders or clients.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Plan and supervise the work of up to 10‑12 technical engineers or designers in the mechanical/structural domain.
- Execute and deliver the technical portions for all orders or projects on the product line.
- Collaborate with the supervisor and team to organize the best approach to project tasks and take full responsibility for the detailed project plan and resource allocation.
- Ensure team follows product development processes and adheres to all relevant standards and procedures.
- Deliver or sustain products or technology at the required quality level to meet business stakeholder requirements (e.g., timelines, budgets).
- Provide technical documentation from the team, including design files, drawings, and specifications, as mandated by the Engineering Management System.
- Monitor and guide good working practices relating to QHSE, technical rigor, professional behavior, and performance of direct reports.




- Maintain expertise through training and development appropriate for project execution.
- Set annual objectives with the N+1 supervisor and conduct regular performance appraisals.
- Ensure employees are up to date with internal career development tools such as CNP, Career Portfolio, SETC, and SCMi.
- Understand client’s technical requirements during proposal phase and lead engineering documentation to cost projects within domain disciplines.
- Communicate the as‑sold engineering scope of supply and post‑award project scopes to the engineering team.
- Ensure project or order execution aligns with product line procedures, work instructions, forms, design requirements, and client specifications.
- Ensure engineers use DIRs, develop BOMs, and assign SAP Part Numbers to communicate technical requirements to the manufacturing plant.
- Ensure compliance with SAP processes (EWRs, ECNs) and departmental procedures.
- Generate project engineering scopes, execution plans, and schedules for each order or project within the mechanical/structural domain.
- Distribute engineering activities across mechanical/structural disciplines (structural, HVAC, piping).
- Lead mechanical/structural engineering teams across different locations.
- Hold regular engineering meetings with internal teams and external clients or vendors.
- Requisition and scope subcontract specialist engineering activities or deliver them internally within the mechanical/structural domain.
- Requisition and scope subcontract fabricators or deliver them internally within the mechanical/structural domain.
- Provide engineering hour estimating, planning, and forecasting for mechanical and structural functions.
- Review, approve, and control man‑hour bookings on projects for disciplines under direct management.
- Schedule engineering activities, understanding inter‑disciplinary impacts and prioritization.
- Define engineering document lists for each project and for product line proposals.
- Coordinate design reviews, safety studies, and lessons learned for the product line within the discipline domain(s).
- Participate in manufacturing constructability reviews with plant or third‑party fabricators.
- Resolve mechanical/structural technical conflicts within the product portfolio.




- Ensure adherence to engineering change management procedures and generate MOCs as required.
- Write or supervise the development of technical requisitions for major equipment purchases related to mechanical/structural domains.

Qualifications and Experience

- Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Must hold a mandatory Qualified Engineering License (P.Eng).
- Minimum 10 years’ combined expertise in structural design and engineering of equipment, mechanical HVAC design, mechanical static and rotating equipment design, mechanical piping design and engineering, all focused on data center infrastructure.
- Proven experience managing multi‑disciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience working with manufacturing shops, both internal and external, including third‑party fabrication.
- Ability to produce drawings/sketches to illustrate design ideas.
- General knowledge of the construction, operation, and maintenance of data centers and components.
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis design and construction of structural steel frames, skids, and equipment modules.
- Proven experience troubleshooting welded structures, with in‑depth knowledge of welding practices and weld connection designs.
- General knowledge of HVAC systems and exposure to grills, plenums, fire/smoke dampers, electric heaters, and configurations.
- Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations including Canadian CSA and others such as:
- AHRI, AISI, AISC, AMCA, ANSI, ASHRAE, ASME (B&PV; Section VIII, IX, B31.3, B1.9), ASTM, AWS, CIBSE, IBC, MFMA, MSS, OSHA, NACE, NFPA, SMACNA, TEMA, PFI.

- Experience with CAD and BIM software.
- Fast‑track design/build and multiple significant upgrade projects experience.
- Direct experience negotiating with regulatory agencies for code departures and achieving design approval and permitting.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office 365 Suite and PDF editor tools.
- Operational knowledge and ability to supervise in areas such as SAP (ERP), SolidWorks, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk BIM 360, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bentley STAAD Pro, Trane TRACE 700, Carrier HAP, CAESAR II, NozzlePro, FEPipe, 3E Plus, Pipe Data Pro, COMPRESS.
- Fluency (written and verbal) in English.
- Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and independent work skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under high‑stress conditions.
- Strong relationship building and client‑facing communication abilities.
- Extreme work ethic and high quality standards.
- Solid written communication and collaborative team skills.
- Must be legally authorized to work and reside in Canada without sponsorship.
