ROLE
The Labourer is responsible for performing general construction activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Comply with SMJV and client and OH&S; safety practices and procedures
Assist tradesmen in completing daily tasks
Gathering tools and materials as requested by foreperson/journeyman
Assist with loading and unloading of materials
Assisting crew with structural steel and piping installation
General labour duties as requested by foreperson
Operate hand and power tools
Daily work area clean up
Attend daily safety/toolbox meetings
Complete daily Field Level Hazard Assessments
Manual material handling.
Clean and prepare sites.
Unload and set up traffic controls and safety equipment.
Perform spotting for various types of equipment as well as overhead powerlines.
Note: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required in order to support the objectives of the company.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
Various safety tickets/certificates as required depending on project.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
Experience
Previous work experience in the facility and/or pipeline construction industry would be an asset.
Skills and Knowledge
Knowledge of facilities and/or pipeline construction industry is considered an asset.
Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures.
Knowledge of handling hazardous materials and industry waste.
Positive vision and hand-eye coordination.
Physically able to lift and handle heavy objects.
Manual dexterity.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is based at our Spruce Grove fabrication shop. Must be able to work 5 – 6 days/week, 10 hours/day.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Labourer reports to the Shop Supervisor.
