We are looking for enthusiastic part time Reading & Writing Tutors who enjoy working with students. As a Sylvan Instructor, you will receive comprehensive training in the Sylvan teaching method and curriculum, along with the tools and support needed to teach in a small-group setting (up to 3 students per instructor).
Responsibilities
Teach reading and writing using Sylvan programs and instructional methods
Support students in developing reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, spelling, and writing skills
Assist students with English homework and assignments when appropriate
Motivate, encourage, and engage students throughout each lesson
Recognize and reward student achievement
Evaluate and document student progress
Build positive relationships with students and create a fun, supportive learning workplace
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field, or currently pursuing one
Previous tutoring or teaching experience preferred
Familiarity with the BC Curriculum is an asset
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal English skills
Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced workplace
Passion for helping students build confidence and become stronger readers and writers
Available to work 2+ shifts per week
