Role: Mainframe QA Engineer (Banking Domain)

Location: Toronto, ON

Duration: long Term Contract

Job Description:

Seeking an experienced Mainframe QA Tester with robust expertise in testing mainframe applications and backend systems. The candidate should have experience in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, and SQL, along with hands-on experience in test planning, test execution, defect tracking, and Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities:

Analyze business requirements and prepare test scenarios, test cases, and test data.

Perform functional, integration, system, regression, and UAT testing for Mainframe applications.

Validate data using DB2, VSAM files, and SQL queries.

Execute batch testing and validate JCL job processing.

Perform backend testing and data reconciliation activities.

Log, track, and manage defects using JIRA/HP ALM.

Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and support teams to resolve issues.





Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.

Prepare test reports and provide status updates to stakeholders.

Required Skills:

QA experience with Mainframe applications.

Robust knowledge of COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM.

Experience in backend/database testing and SQL queries.

Experience with batch processing and file validation.

Knowledge of SDLC, STLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Hands-on experience with JIRA, HP ALM, Quality Center.

Robust analytical and communication skills.

Nice to Have:

Experience with API testing (Postman/REST).

Banking, Insurance, or Financial domain experience.

Automation knowledge using Selenium or UFT.
