Description

Assistant or Associate Professor Teaching positions at the Faculty of Social Work, University of Calgary.

The Chance

This teaching‑focused role is 80% teaching and 20% service. The candidate will teach BSW, MSW, and graduate certificate courses, leading and administrating courses and learning activities. Service will include curriculum support, student advising, departmental service, and university or professional service.

Scholarship duties include staying current in pedagogical research and content in social work.

Candidate Requirements

- Doctoral degree in social work or a related field (PhD, DSW, Ed.D., etc.) or near‑term completion of such a degree.
- Hold either a BSW or MSW and be eligible to register with the Alberta College of Social Workers.
- Minimum of five years of full‑time social work practice.
- Demonstrated success in social work teaching.
- Demonstrated leadership in social work organizations.
- Knowledge and practice in equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and social justice.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and computer skills.
- Commitment to the Faculty’s Strategic Plan.




- Commitment to supporting and promoting Indigenous models of practice and ways of knowing.
- Experience as a field instructor (student supervising) and coordination of field education delivery.
- Full‑time residence in Alberta at one of the Faculty’s campus locations.
