In Human Resources Abbotsford (King Road) Application deadline: August 11, 2026 Job Number: J0726-0894 Status: Temporary Contract Term: Aug 2026 - Sept 2027 Open Positions: 1 Salary Schedule: Staff Salary Schedule, Group 6 Hours/Week: 35 Salary: $29.40 - $35.43/Hour Position Description Job Summary The Assistant, Professional Development is the primary support to the Joint Professional Development Committee (JPDC), and is responsible for the administration of in-service career development, staff educational leave, included Tuition Assistance, and the Training and Development Allowance.

The Assistant also coordinates logistics for all Learning and Development Workshops, both virtual and in person.

Qualifications Diploma in human resources is required.

Completion of an HR designation (CPHR) is preferred.

Two (2) years related experience.

Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, identify options, and exercise sound judgment to make effective, timely decisions, balancing policy requirements, stakeholder needs, and operational constraints.

Demonstrated experience with meeting coordination including agendas, minutes, and action item tracking.





Advanced proficiency in managing information related to career development funds.

Experience working with Adele is preferred.

Experience working with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).

Experience with ERP, Banner and FAST systems are preferred.

Experience with digital engagement and web development platforms.

Experience with Terminal 4 is preferred.

Demonstrated experience adjudicating expense claims.

Using Emburse for expense management is preferred.

Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, and strong word processing skills.

Ability to manage tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Proven administrative support experience, especially supporting committees.

Solid written, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Proven ability to communicate effectively and to provide service to employees in a professional, respectful, positive, and courteous manner.

Proven organizational skills and the ability to work independently with frequent interruptions.
