Explore a rewarding career as the District Indigenous Education Counsellor for Grades K-12, located in Cranbrook and Elk Valley. This full time, continuing contract begins September 8, 2026, with a solid emphasis on Indigenous educational frameworks.
To qualify, applicants must possess a Master’s Degree in Counselling or Psychology authorized by the BC Teacher Regulation Branch. Teaching experience at the K-12 level is required, and preference will be given to candidates with Indigenous ancestry or training in Indigenous practices. This role supports all School District No. 5 communities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Offer counseling and guidance for K-12 students
• Employ Indigenous ways of knowing in teaching
• Work collaboratively with local Indigenous communities
• Enhance student mental well-being through support services
• Build inclusive and respectful educational settings
Requirements:
• Master’s Degree in required field of study
• BC Teacher Certification preferred
• Relevant K-12 teaching experience
• Training in Indigenous health and practices is an asset
• Passion for supporting Indigenous education
