Position Title : SW KC Mkt Medical Assistant

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant is responsible for ensuring efficient flow of patients through the healthcare setting by facilitating examination and treatment in a culturally sensitive manner with exceptional customer service. The role includes preparing patients for visits, performing limited procedures, scheduling diagnostic tests or consultations, maintaining patient records, organizing clinic and exam rooms, inventorying supplies and equipment, and assisting physicians, nurses, interdisciplinary team members, and support staff.

Responsibilities

- Accurately schedule tests; obtain films and reports; prepare laboratory specimens according to policy.
- Assist physicians and/or nurses with special procedures and examinations as defined on the competency checklist.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate and implement patient care plans; may record elements of patient history for clinical staff review.
- Electronically submit, call, and/or fax prescriptions and refills to outpatient pharmacies.
- Ensure data collected for completed procedures is recorded on appropriate forms and in medical records.
- Maintain medical records and ensure all required documentation is available; distribute reports and correspondence; file, photocopy, and process related forms.
- Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of examination rooms; stock assigned areas and keep supply levels within required par levels; complete necessary logs and equipment checks (e.g., refrigerator, eyewash, crash carts).
- Perform clerical duties such as greeting patients, registration, scheduling, pre‑certification of tests, processing insurance forms, preparing financial records, answering phones,



and entering ambulatory care charges.
- Perform simple procedures as directed by the nurse or physician and as defined on the competency checklist.
- Record vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures in the medical record.
- Execute professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Qualifications

- High School Graduate.
- At least 1 year of Medical Assistant experience, OR graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program, OR hold Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA or NRCMA).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 14 days of hire.

Full time.
