Empower individuals with developmental disabilities as a Disability Support Worker with The Salvation Army. This role focuses on enhancing independence and community participation within the START program.
In this front-line position, you will provide person-centered support to participants, fostering a sense of dignity, choice, and quality of life. Key skills needed include personal care assistance, behavioral plan implementation, and a commitment to creating a protected and inclusive setting. You'll interact with a diverse group while working both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist individuals with daily living activities and goals
• Provide personal care, including bathing and medication support
• Document incident reports and maintain accurate records
• Participate in community events and empower individual participation
• Ensure a respectful and supportive workplace for all individuals
Requirements:
• 3 years’ experience supporting adults with disabilities
• Relevant certificate/diploma in Human Services
• First Aid/CPR certification is an asset
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and own vehicle
• Ability to engage and motivate individuals in a respectful manner
Support individuals in achieving their personal goals and meaningful community engagement with The Salvation Army.
