General Maintenance B

GENERAL DUTIES

- Performs a range of semi-skilled and labor type tasks on buildings, roads, grounds, dykes, dams and structures; performs cleaning, cooking, snow removal, garbage removal, landscaping, operation of hydraulic control gates, painting, sandblasting, rigging and scaffolding.
- Assists in performing maintenance and repairs to corporation’s facilities, structures and grounds including carpentry, plumbing, painting and masonry work.
- Shall staff up-country structures when required.
- Will be required to operate mobile equipment and to work at heights up to 130M and in confined spaces.
- May be required to perform tanker duties at the marine terminal and perform Type 1 asbestos removal as per provincial regulations.
- All other duties related to or associated with this classification.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- High school education and three (3) years experience and training in the building trades.
- Completion of a certified scaffolding course.




- Knowledge and training of the construction and operation of earth and concrete dams and the operation of diesel generator units.
- Knowledge and training in operation of mobile equipment and hydraulic boom operations.
- Shall have a thorough knowledge of all regulations and safety rules.
- Must possess a class 5 driver’s license.
- The following endorsements: 03 - tandem axle and 09 - air brake would be an asset.
