Summary The Painter is responsible for performing interior and exterior painting and finishing work in residential housing units.
The role supports ongoing preventative maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment of housing to ensure protected, functional, and aesthetically maintained living environments.
The Painter works independently or as part of a maintenance team and follows established safety, quality, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities Surface Preparation Prepare surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, patching, filling holes and cracks, and removing old paint or wallpaper.
Clean and prepare surfaces including drywall, wood, concrete, plaster, and metal.
Apply primers and sealers as required.
Painting and Finishing Apply paint, stains, varnishes, lacquers, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
Perform interior and exterior painting on residential units, garages, stairwells,
and common areas.
Ensure proper colour matching and finishing standards.
Housing Maintenance Support Support renovation and turnover of housing units between occupants.
Perform minor drywall repairs, caulking, and touch-ups as part of painting work.
Coordinate work with other trades (carpenters, plumbers, electricians).
Quality & Compliance Ensure all work meets company standards.
Maintain clean and protected work areas.
Follow all workplace safety procedures.
Materials & Equipment Maintain and properly use painting tools and equipment including sprayers, ladders, and scaffolding.
Track and manage paint inventory and materials.
Ensure proper storage and disposal of paints and solvents.
