The SE Research Centre conducts impact-oriented health services research to synthesize, generate, translate, adapt and directly apply scientific evidence in the design, delivery and evaluation of person and family‑centred health and social care services.
The primary role of the Research Associate is to provide robust project management to scientific research studies conducted in the SE Research Centre, including management of research ethics board approvals. The Research Associate is also responsible for high quality quantitative and/or qualitative data collection, data management, and data analysis, including engagement of research participants using best practices in participatory research. In collaboration with Senior Research Associates and Research Scientists, Research Associates will also participate in academic and lay audience knowledge mobilization opportunities and support SE Research Centre team initiatives for ongoing improvement/maintenance of collaboration, efficiency and engagement.

Manage flow of communication across study teams, including coordination and leadership of project meetings
Manage Research Ethics Board Submissions, Amendments, Renewals and Closures in collaboration with Senior Research Associates/ Research Scientists
Support Senior Research Associates/ Research Scientists in the development of study budgets; track all expenses against approved study budget(s)
Qualitative and Quantitative Data Collection and Analysis
Lead recruitment and informed consent process for SE Research Centre studies
Support development of data collection tools in collaboration with Senior Research Associates and/or Research Scientists
Collect qualitative and quantitative data using best methodological practices and according to approved REB research protocol
Implement REB approved management practices including for organization, storage, and destruction
Implement data analysis activities with support from Senior Research Associates/ Research Scientists, including assistance with data interpretation
Write conference abstracts, prepare and lead presentations in collaboration with Senior Research Associates
Draft/ Update Research project summaries in collaboration with Senior Research Associates/ Research Scientists
Participate in the preparation and writing of peer‑reviewed publications in collaboration with SE Research Centre colleagues
Support SE Research Centre team initiatives to improve/ maintain collaboration, efficiency and engagement
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
A minimum of five years of experience participating in relevant health services research activities
Experience with writing for various audiences, including academic publication
Experience mentoring others in an academic and/or research context
Tri‑Council Policy Statement (2): Ethical Conduct of Research Involving Humans certificate
GBA+ training
Skill/ Competency Requirements
Ability to employ a wide range of data collection and data analysis methods
Strong team collaboration and internal/ external networking skills in the context of research studies
Strong problem‑solving skills in the context of executing research protocols
Strong oral and written communications skills and diplomacy and interpersonal skills
Education and Experience
Master’s degree in a science or health related discipline from a recognized university
A minimum of 2 years of additional experience working in Health Services Research
Skill / Competency Requirements
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Experience in coordinating/managing/analyzing quantitative/ qualitative Health Services Research projects
An understanding of the health sectors in Canada including hospital, home and community‑based care
Ability to contribute to a team under complex research and organizational conditions, and in an environment of multiple priorities
Diplomacy and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to plan projects
