Senior Financial Analyst (McNicoll Facility) About Shah Trading Company For over 50 years, Shah Trading Company (STC) has been a trusted Canadian leader in food processing, packaging, and distribution, serving customers across North America. We proudly operate four production facilities across Ontario and Quebec, producing a wide range of high-quality food products — including rice, pulses, spices, nuts, and canned goods.
Location: Scarborough, ON (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary Range: $80,000 – $90,000 per year (based on experience, qualifications, and skill level)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Position Overview Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst will play a key role in financial reporting, business analysis, process improvement, compliance, and finance transformation initiatives. This role is ideal for an accounting or finance professional who enjoys working beyond traditional bookkeeping and month‑end activities and wants to contribute to building a modern, data‑driven finance function. The successful candidate will combine strong accounting fundamentals with analytical thinking, systems aptitude, and a continuous improvement mindset.
Key Responsibilities A. Financial Reporting & Analysis Assist preparation of monthly financial reporting packages and management reports
Analyze financial results, trends, and key performance indicators
Investigate variances and identify underlying business drivers
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
Assist in developing meaningful financial dashboards and performance metrics
Generate insights and recommendations to support decision making
B. Reconciliations & Financial Schedules Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
Prepare and maintain schedules for: Fixed assets
Prepaid expenses
Accruals
Intercompany balances
Loan Schedules
Other key balance sheet accounts
Support month‑end and year‑end close processes
C. Compliance & Tax Assist with GST/HST filings and other tax requirements
Assist with annual audit preparation and working paper files
Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
D. Process Improvement & Documentation Assist with documentation of finance processes, procedures, and controls
Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements
Assist with implementation of best practices across the finance function
Support finance transformation initiatives and special projects
Participate in system enhancement and reporting initiatives
E. Systems & Business Intelligence Develop advanced Excel models and reporting tools
Assist with creation and maintenance of Power BI dashboards
Improve data quality and reporting accuracy
Leverage ERP and reporting tools to improve business visibility
Support development within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
5-8 years of progressive accounting and financial analysis experience
Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or consumer products environments is considered an asset
Experience supporting month‑end close and financial reporting processes
Experience with financial analysis and management reporting
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required Pivot Tables
Power Query
Lookup functions
Financial modeling
Power BI experience strongly preferred
Experience with ERP systems required
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is considered a strong asset
