MSF Canada is seeking a Deputy Executive Director to serve as the operational backbone of the organization, translating strategy into action across departments. This is a hybrid role (2 days/week in-office) based between Montreal and Toronto, structured as a 4-year fixed-term contract (extendable up to 8 years), with a yearly salary of CAD 170,606.
The role drives organizational effectiveness through the planning and accountability cycle, directly oversees the Finance and Administration, IT, Human Resources, and Strategy and Planning leaders, maintains risk registry management and critical incident preparedness, acts as the Executive Director’s strategic partner on governance reporting and Board engagement, and supports the ED in representing MSF Canada internally and externally.
Requirements Genuine commitment to MSF’s humanitarian principles and social mission
Proficiency in spoken and written English and French
Demonstrated senior leadership experience in a complex, multi-stakeholder nonprofit or humanitarian organization
Proven track record managing cross-functional teams and executive-level direct reports
Familiarity with financial oversight, IT governance, and/or legal and compliance functions
