Drive tree management and care as the head of the Forestry Division in Medford. This Tree Warden position focuses on ensuring the vitality of public shade trees.
In this critical role, you'll be responsible for overseeing tree maintenance, pruning, and removal projects on municipal properties within Medford. You'll manage the inventory, use digital tools for tracking, and prepare grants for tree care funding. Robust leadership and communication skills are essential as you work with diverse community stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the Forestry Division’s daily operations
• Ensure protected and healthy tree pruning procedures
• Issue and oversee tree removal permits
• Direct current tree plantings and inspections
• Maintain accurate GIS tree inventory records
Requirements:
• Associates degree in urban forestry or similar
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
• Valid driver’s license required
• Massachusetts Certified Arborist or ISA certification
• Comprehensive knowledge of local laws
