TransAlta is looking for a dedicated Permit Coordinator for its Thermal Operations team at the Keephills Thermal Plant. This full-time role focuses on coordinating work permits and safety compliance.

Based at Keephills Thermal Plant, 70 kilometers west of Edmonton, Alberta, this role requires managing daily operations and maintenance while ensuring safety standards are met. The Permit Coordinator will oversee permit management, including issuing and approving work permits and ensuring compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. A solid focus is placed on safety oversight, documentation, and effective communication with Operations, Maintenance, and Contractors.

Key Responsibilities:
• Issue and review work permits thoroughly
• Verify hazard assessments before work starts




• Coordinate equipment isolations and LOTO procedures
• Conduct site inspections for safety compliance
• Manage documentation and monthly reporting

Requirements:
• Power Engineering certification (2nd Class preferred)
• Experience in thermal or industrial operations
• Solid knowledge of work permit systems and safety practices
• Organizational and communication skills
• Self-motivated with attention to detail
