Norpak Handling of Port Hope, ON is pleased to announce they have received ISO 9001:2000 certification. Fewer than 100 companies have reached this level of recognition in Canada thus far.

ISO 9001:2000 requires a considerably different approach to quality assurance from past programs. Norpak’s Manager of Innovation and Special Projects, Bob Mercer explains: “This program not only gives us the work instructions and inspection procedures you expect but it also demands continuing improvements. It is not a one shot approach to quality assurance.

We must constantly look for ways to improve. Everybody in the company has to be a part of the process. It provides Norpak with a widely recognized selling feature for our products”.

Mr. Mercer, along with Norpak’s team of internal auditors- Beverly Rudderham, Mike Hepburn, Bob Stewart and Terry Bone were responsible for the successful ISO implementation.



The work was undertaken in near record time over a 10 month period. Norpak is already experiencing the advantages the recent system has to offer.
