La Maza, established in December 2020, is a Burlington‑based athletic collective focused on developing high‑performance training settings for combat sports and strength disciplines. The organization is built around discipline, community, and long‑term athlete development. La Maza supports coaches, competitors, and students by providing structured training systems, clear progression pathways, and a culture centered on respect, hard work, and continuous improvement.

Role Description This is a full‑time, on‑site Jiu Jitsu Coach position located in Burlington, ON. The coach will lead group and individual Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes, demonstrate techniques, and design training programs for all skill levels: from beginners to advanced athletes. Daily responsibilities include running warm‑ups and drills, correcting technique, maintaining a protected training environment, and giving clear, constructive feedback.

The coach will organize sparring sessions, assist students preparing for competitions, and help reinforce a positive, disciplined gym culture.



Additional duties may include equipment upkeep, supporting membership retention through athlete engagement, and collaborating with management on scheduling and special events. Qualifications

Robust technical proficiency in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, with experience teaching multiple age groups and skill levels.

Ability to design structured training plans including drills, conditioning, and progression frameworks.

Excellent communication skills with a focus on clarity, encouragement, and safety.

Proven ability to maintain a respectful, inclusive, and disciplined training environment.

Competition experience and familiarity with current BJJ rules and training methodologies are an asset.

Coaching certifications or recognized belt rank preferred.

First Aid/CPR certification and commitment to health, safety, and injury prevention.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
