Position: Grower 2 – PRT Summit, Telkwa, BC, Canada

A Day in the Life: Growers assist in producing quality forest seedlings by applying best nursery practices. Candidates should be self-motivated, team-oriented, and willing to work varied shift times throughout the grow season. Work includes handling hazardous materials and operating climate control systems.

Key Accountabilities

- Implement water, fertilization, and greenhouse cultural programs as indicated on Crop Prescriptions.
- Operate the Argus Environmental Control System for irrigation, climate, and alarm programs.
- Monitor seedling growth through morphological measurements and tissue nutrient analyses.
- Inspect insects and diseases and implement control methods.
- Maintain accurate records, including computerized record-keeping systems.
- Inspect, repair, and replace Argus monitoring equipment and software as needed.
- Supervise and train seasonal irrigation employees.
- Train nursery workers on protected and efficient work practices for weeding, quality control, and cultural practices.
- Follow the company's Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program for pesticide application.
- Provide feedback on growing programs to the Production Manager on a regular basis.
- Clean and replace filters; inspect injectors, irrigation lines,



and mixing equipment for wear and proper function.
- Assist with crop and growing material inventories.
- Promote collaboration and teamwork at all levels.
- Set production and timeline targets and evaluate achievement.

Qualifications

- Experience in nursery or propagation environments.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems and crop monitoring.
- Connection to outdoor or rural living.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
- Knowledge of greenhouse equipment and climate control systems.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Basic maintenance skills for greenhouse, irrigation facilities, and equipment.
- Ability to climb, stand, and stoop for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

- Pesticide applicator certificate.
- Degree in horticulture-related field or forest seedling nursery work experience.
- Bilingual (English/French).
- Experience with greenhouse monitoring software and hardware, preferably Argus.

Compensation

Hourly rate: $22.40–$28.02 + performance bonus (rate based on experience and preferred qualifications).
