- Manage and perform field survey work with the support of Survey Assistants.
- Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate field survey work, review and manage project budgets, schedules, priorities, and survey methodology.
- Liaise with client field representatives and landowners and be a brand ambassador for our client.
- Prepare field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data in required formats for different audiences.
- Provide guidance, training and mentorship to Survey Assistants.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, efficient field processes and procedures and the innovative use of new technology.
- Proactively participate in and support our client's safety program.
- Complete office technical survey tasks as required and other duties as assigned.
What you will bring:
- Diploma/Degree in a post-secondary program related to surveying, geomatics or civil engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software such as GPS and Total Stations (Including Robotic).
- Experience of Trimble equipment and software,
laser scanning and line locating considered an asset.
- 3-5 years of experience in a Survey Crew Chief role completing construction and legal surveys is required.
- Strong problem-solving skills in a field environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to produce accurate and legible field notes.
- The ability to develop and motivate survey staff and work well in a team workplace.
- An aptitude for delivering projects on time and budget.
- A valid driver’s license and can provide a clean driver’s abstract; and
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as per the limits provided in the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplac.
