Drive operational excellence as the Operations Manager at the School of Medical Sciences (SMS) at UVic. Oversee daily administration, safety, and finance management within the school.

As the Operations Manager, you will ensure the effective functioning of SMS by managing both operational and technical tasks. This role requires overseeing HR administration, laboratory safety, and coordinating training for diverse staff and students. Close collaboration with the Academic Head and Director of Administration is essential in this position, which supports key educational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee human resources and financial management for staff
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols in all laboratory settings
• Facilitate training on core lab equipment for team members




• Manage relationships and communications within the department
• Prepare technical reports and budget analyses

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree and three years pertinent experience
• Solid administrative and organizational capabilities
• Proven ability in leadership and team support
• Familiarity with budgeting and financial forecasting
• Understanding of unionized HR environments a benefit
