Associate – Toronto (Immediate Start)
OMERS Private Equity (OPE) seeks to use its significant and differentiated capital base to partner with management teams of industry‑leading businesses. Responsibilities
Research, analyze, and evaluate new investment opportunities through industry research, competitor assessments, financial statement analysis, and financial modelling.
Develop financial models depicting a company’s historical and projected financial results.
Build and maintain relationships within banking, lending, and private equity to source new deals or develop new investment themes.
Prepare commercial and operational due diligence.
Assess financial returns and risks for new investment opportunities.
Create internal investment presentations.
Manage existing portfolio companies, evaluating operating and financial performance.
Collaborate with management to research and execute tuck‑in acquisitions.
Support capital structure management, including debt refinancing, tax planning, and capital budgeting.
Conduct financial reporting to support decision‑making.
Assist with ad‑hoc operating projects alongside management.
Required Skills
At least 2 years of experience as an investor, investment banker, or consultant.
Strong analytical, quantitative, and financial modelling skills.
Solid understanding of fundamental financial statement analysis, investment analysis,
business valuation theory, and techniques.
Exceptional attention to detail and analytical capability.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Commitment to staying current on a variety of topics related to the investment themes being explored.
Ability to thrive in a constantly evolving organization and handle ambiguity.
Intellectual curiosity and a long‑term investment horizon.
Demonstrated career and academic success, and a strong work ethic.
Team‑based collaborative mindset.
Self‑motivated with the drive to achieve results and a continuous pursuit of high performance through creative thinking.
Salary and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $115,000–145,000 per year. You may also be eligible for an annual Incentive Award pursuant to our Short‑term Incentive plan, a Long‑Term Incentive plan (if applicable), and participation in our group benefits and retirement plans.
