Radiation Therapists are a part of an interdisciplinary health care team that provides radiation therapy to oncology patients. This patient-focused position requires both a positive attitude and a high degree of dedication to team work.
Job duties based upon a rotation may include:
CT Simulation;
Preparation of treatment accessories;
Participation in treatment planning process;
Treatment delivery according to the radiation oncologist's prescription;
Utilization of Linear Accelerator equipment;
Delivery of Patient education as related to the radiation treatment;
Participating in all aspects of the department's quality assurance program;
Other duties as related.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a diploma in Radiation Therapy from a recognized/accredited radiation therapy program or Bachelor of Science in Radiation Science with a diploma of Health Sciences in Radiation Therapy;
Must be registered with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) and the Prince Edward Island Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (PEIAMRT);
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and cooperatively with others are required;
The successful applicant must have a positive previous work and attendance record.
Other Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates with previous experience;
Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.
