About The Role

We're looking for an experienced Senior Data Science Developer to join a major Public Health Ontario initiative focused on building contemporary cloud-based analytics capabilities. This role is ideal for someone with strong expertise in both Data Engineering and Data Science, helping design scalable data platforms while integrating AI and machine learning into public health analytics.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement cloud-based data and analytics solutions on Azure.
Build and maintain Data Lake/Lakehouse environments and automated data pipelines.
Develop ETL processes, analytics models, dashboards, and reports.
Create scalable data solutions using Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, Azure Storage, and Azure Data Factory.
Collaborate with business and technical teams to gather requirements and deliver analytics products.
Integrate AI, Machine Learning, and NLP techniques into data analytics initiatives.
Support forecasting, modelling, and scenario analysis.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues and recommend effective solutions.
Produce technical documentation and deliver knowledge transfer sessions to internal teams.

Must-Have Skills
Strong experience with Azure Data Lake, Azure Storage, Azure Databricks Lakehouse,



Azure Synapse, and Azure Data Factory.
Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and Power BI.
Hands-on experience designing and maintaining Data Lakes, Lakehouse architectures, Medallion Architecture, automated ETL/data pipelines, analytics models, dashboards, and reporting solutions.
Experience working across multiple cloud-based data and analytics platforms.
Proven ability to assess business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex data settings.
Experience preparing technical documentation and conducting knowledge transfer.
Public Sector experience (Required).
Ability to perform both Data Engineering and Data Science responsibilities.

Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience implementing Machine Learning, NLP, forecasting, and predictive analytics solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Solid stakeholder management and collaboration abilities.
Experience developing technical standards, best practices, and implementation guidelines.
Previous experience leading technical teams, mentoring developers, or providing technical guidance.
