Emergency Medical Care Inc. (EMC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Medavie Health Services (MHS) that manages and operates ground ambulance, air medical transport and the medical communications operations in Nova Scotia through a performance‑based contract with the provincial government's Emergency Health Services (EHS) Operations division and the Department of Health and Wellness. As well, EMC operates TeleHealth/811 medical communications for Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island for the Department of Health.

We access all communities in Nova Scotia in a timely and efficient manner with our fleet of more than 180 ambulances and support vehicles operating out of 60+ stations. We respond to 165,000+ calls annually across the province, which are actively managed through the EHS Operations Medical Communications Centre, the hub of all emergency (911) and non‑emergency (hospital transfers) medical calls.

The EHS Operations LifeFlight program provides even greater accessibility by responding to patients on scene or through inter‑facility transports by our critical care team via helicopter, fixed wing, or ground ambulance.

In addition, paramedics in Nova Scotia participate in various programs both urban and rural such as community‑based paramedic programs, collaborative emergency centres, and emergency preparedness and special operations, to name a few.

NATURE AND SCOPE

Reporting to the Manager of Community Health Operations, the Integrated Health Operations Supervisor assists program development, coordinates operational deployment,



and provides supervisory support across the provincial Integrated Health Operations portfolio (including but not limited to Community Paramedicine and the Medical Communication Centre Clinical Team).

The position supports the planning, implementation, and ongoing operation of new and existing Integrated Health Operations programs, working closely with internal and external partners to identify opportunities for program growth, service improvement, and operational expansion. The Supervisor helps ensure programs continue to meet or exceed patient, client, and customer service expectations.

The role provides operational support to staff working within Integrated Health Operations and collaborates with Organizational Support and Readiness, Interprofessional Practice and Learning, Performance Improvement, and Operations to support resourcing, service readiness, operational efficiency, staff development, and divisional alignment.

As a key operational resource, the Supervisor supports day‑to‑day continuity, consistency, and readiness across the Integrated Health Operations portfolio. Key responsibilities include supporting new program development, maintaining procedures and processes, monitoring scheduling requirements, conducting Service Inquiries, liaising with partners, supporting paramedic staff development, and providing coverage for the Manager of Community Health Operations during periods of absence.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Support and Development

- Provide operational program support to Integrated Health Operations.
- Work directly with external agencies such as DHW, EHS and NSHA in the development of Integrated Health Operations.
- Work in conjunction with the Clinical Supervisor of Integrated Health Programs in support of Integrated Health Operations continuing education initiatives.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure all operational needs are managed in the province.

Staff Leadership and Development

- Lead and supervise Integrated Health Operations staff in their development.
- Engage staff in a continuous performance management process.
- Facilitate the implementation and execution of the collective agreement.
- Participate in staff retention, reward and recognition.
- Advise Manager of Community Health Operations on staff issues relative to Integrated Health Operations.

Recruitment and Onboarding

- Participate in the recruitment, selection, hiring and orientation of new employees.
- Work with Human Resources in the recruitment and hiring of recent Integrated Health Operations staff, as needed.

Scheduling and Operational Coordination

- Create staff scheduling of Integrated Health Operations.
- Interface with District Operations Supervisors and Platoon Operations Supervisors on matters that link ground Operations and Integrated Health Operations.
- Attend provincial and regional human resources meetings as required.

Safety, Quality Assurance and Issue Resolution
