Job Purpose
The Training and Development Team Lead oversees the training and development coordinators and ensures training content for professional development and ongoing training is developed in a systematic approach applying adult education principles and technical knowledge. The role involves reviewing the training mission and strategy with the EED Manager and recommending new training initiatives, technologies, and trends.

Duties and Responsibilities

Creates and delivers annual learning plans for Managers and Senior Leadership, working collaboratively with HS and FSQA to include legislative material.

Develops, facilitates, and maintains salaried onboarding program content.

Recommends, coordinates, and facilitates “Eagles Flight” team building training and content development.

Supervises the Training and Development Coordinators.

Assists the EED Manager in developing and delivering training programs to meet requested organizational training needs based on needs analysis and industry trends.

Facilitates learning through a variety of delivery methods including classroom instruction, virtual training, on-the-job coaching, and explores recent methods of training (e.g., virtual reality).

Sources and recommends new delivery methods and technologies to improve training offerings and outcomes.

Develops learning plans through our learning platforms by role, incorporating both the Alchemy and Udemy platforms.

Evaluates the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics and makes necessary changes to improve outcomes.

Completes analysis and review of training statistics to monitor effectiveness.

Oversees and maintains progression of the Canadian Butchery skills development program for internal candidate skills development.





Facilitates the Operations leadership professional development program through post‑secondary online courses and practical information sessions with leaders internally.

Tracks and reports on training outcomes where required.

Markets and communicates all available training opportunities to employees and provides necessary information.

Uses accepted education principles, training methods, and techniques.

Serves as a subject matter expert on Udemy.

Keeps abreast of new training technology and serves as the subject matter expert to review and recommend new technologies.

Works with the EED Manager on providing input to the training budget and monitoring spend.

Manages training projects.

Demonstrates and promotes the Conestoga WAY.

Acts as a role model and cultivates positive relationships both internally and externally.

Provides guidance and mentorship to trainers and instructional designers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.

Performs other duties as required.

Personal Development

Attends company‑required training.

Remains current with technical knowledge in areas of responsibility.

Stays current on learning methodologies and best‑in‑class processes.

Attends regular 1:1 coaching/update sessions.

Qualifications

Post‑secondary education in Adult Learning, Training, HR, or related field (required).

Five years of experience in learning and development or training.

Experience using learning management systems and delivery tools.

Familiarity with a complete full training cycle (needs assessment, develop learning objectives, instructional design, facilitation, evaluation).

Demonstrated facilitation skills/public speaking.

Experience managing projects from ideation to completion.

Demonstrated ability to build solid business relationships internally and externally.

Familiarity with instructional design theory and implementation.





Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods and techniques.

MS Office proficiency.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments.

Strong communication skills.

Working Conditions

Works occasional weekend and early/late hours to support different shifts.

Cold environment at times.

Noise levels may exceed 85 dBA (hearing protection is provided) at times.

Works in congested and high forklift traffic areas at times.
