Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes), one of Canada’s largest and most successful law firms, has an opening for an Assistant to the Chief People Officer to join our Toronto office.

The Assistant to the Chief People Officer (CPO) provides proactive administrative support to the CPO and the broader HR team through effective coordination, organization, and execution of administrative processes. The successful candidate will be a trusted resource who exercises sound judgment, maintains a high level of confidentiality, and delivers exceptional service while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced professional environment.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to

Providing comprehensive administrative support to the CPO, including calendar management, meeting coordination and travel arrangements

Delivering administrative and coordination support to the broader HR team, including scheduling, day-to-day operational and departmental needs, engagement initiatives and internal communications

Managing communications, including drafting and editing correspondence, presentations and reports, as well as inbox triage and response prioritization

Supporting data compilation and the development of reports and dashboards to enable informed decision-making

Coordinating internal and external meetings, including preparation of agendas, materials and follow-ups

Supporting the planning and execution of HR initiatives, meetings, as well as both internal and external events (e.g., leadership meetings, town halls, offsites)

Tracking key deliverables, deadlines and action items on behalf of the CPO and maintaining organized filing systems for confidential documents





Prepare and submit expense reports and reconcile expenses and invoices while maintaining accurate records

Handling confidential information with discretion, while serving as a professional point of contact and fostering strong relationships across the Firm

Qualifications
Education & Experience

Post-secondary education in business administration, human resources or a related field is preferred

A minimum of two years of experience providing administrative support to senior leadership, ideally within a professional services or legal environment. Applications from recent graduates will also be considered.

Experience supporting Human Resources or People & Culture functions is considered an asset

Demonstrated experience managing complex calendars, coordinating meetings and supporting multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Experience preparing skilled correspondence, presentations and reports

Skills & Abilities

Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively and manage competing demands

Robust attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high degree of professionalism and sound judgment when handling confidential information

Highly adaptable, proactive and resourceful,



thriving both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Compensation
The anticipated annual salary for the Assistant to the Chief People Officer is $65,000 – $85,000. Salary levels will be determined commensurate with internal and market equity and experience.
