Position
Plant Manager
Primary Location
Fort Saskatchewan, AB
Shift
Salaried – Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. Overtime as needed for business and training objectives.
Reports to
Regional Manufacturing Manager
Compensation
$135,000 – $145,000 plus advantages (base salary only, excluding bonuses, pension contributions, and other incentives).
Key Responsibilities
Actively manage day‑to‑day operations to produce safe, quality products (55%).
Perform hands‑on operator and maintenance duties as required (e.g., batching, truck loading, equipment repair).
Provide motivation, guidance, and direction for all plant activities.
Approve plant expenditures and maintain housekeeping standards supporting 6S initiatives.
Ensure product quality and delivery meet customer requirements.
Assist at other plant locations when possible; provide technical support to customers as required.
Ensure proper staffing and focus on continuous improvement projects for value addition and cost reductions.
Interface with Chemtrade personnel regarding safety, EHS audits, and issues; overall safety performance responsibility.
Perform routine daily plant walks, STOP observations, and audits to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Serve as the site’s Responsible Care program representative; report, investigate,
and close EHS incidents and IMS action items.
Assure compliance with all federal, provincial, and local regulations; assist in preparing site‑specific safety and maintenance procedures.
Interface with customers, regulators, and Chemtrade personnel on quality audits and issues; represent the site in ISO program and customer audits.
Prepare and present production, spending, reliability, EHS, CAPEX reports for periodic meetings and annual plans; develop maintenance PM and outage plans.
Collaborate with sales and marketing to align site goals with business goals; participate in periodic planning meetings.
Review production orders and schedules to ensure material availability and consistent shipping plans.
Minimum Position Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
5+ years’ experience in a related management position preferred.
Hands‑on experience in chemical plant operations and maintenance required.
Excellent leadership, problem‑solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to act independently and on own initiative.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
0–5% travel required primarily within region for coverage and department functions.
