Elevate veterinary diagnostic services as a Senior Bacteriology Technician with the University of Calgary. This full time role requires expertise in microbiology and molecular methods to support vital lab functions.
In this position within the Diagnostic Services Unit, you will work closely with the Bacteriology Laboratory Supervisor and Clinical Microbiologist, guiding lab activities while ensuring high standards of accuracy. The role demands excellent communication skills and attention to details related to operating procedures, as you will engage in various complex tasks with peak periods.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support team in teaching and service activities
• Select culture media for microbial growth
• Identify pathogens in various specimens
• Maintain and review biological testing results
• Use molecular methods for pathogen identification
Requirements:
• Certification in Medical Laboratory Technology preferred
• Minimum two years in diagnostic microbiology
• Knowledge of molecular techniques required
• Ability to manage electronic records
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
