Job Description CDM Smith currently has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager with prior experience managing Water and Wastewater projects to join our Western Canada group. In this position, you will be the main point of contact for the planning and design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and sewer systems, pipelines, pump stations, remediation sites, and solid waste facilities projects in British Columbia and assist with business development activities.

Our water services extend across design and construction administration of drinking water, wastewater, water resources, storm water, environmental, master planning studies, and modeling.

Responsibilities

Manage and serve as Project Manager on major British Columbia water & wastewater projects.

Provide technical guidance, leadership, and mentoring to engineering staff to enhance design capabilities.

Develop and maintain scope, schedule, and budget; monitor adherence to project objectives.

Complete Quality Assurance/Quality Control of key deliverables.

Assist Client Service Leaders with technical marketing and client meetings in the Vancouver region.

Participate in professional societies relevant to the industry.

Build and maintain positive working relationships with key decision‑makers in client organizations.

Skills & Abilities

Experience with project management methodology, including budget development, project planning, control, assurance, software, finance, and accounting concepts.





Strong verbal and written communication skills.

In‑depth knowledge of project goals, drivers, strategies, risks, and opportunities.

Ability to interact with staff at all levels and vendors.

Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills when engaging team members and clients.

Capacity to handle multiple requests and large volumes of work.

Advanced proficiency in MS Word and Excel.

Organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree.

7 years of related experience.

PMP (PMI), CCM, or DBIA certification required (within 12 months of hire or promotion to the Approved Project Manager list).

Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency contingent on duties and project demands.

Equivalent directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications

P.Eng. certification.

Experience creating and signing off on engineering designs of basic to high‑complexity water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and sewer systems, pipelines, pump stations, remediation sites, and solid waste facilities.

Project experience working with Metro Vancouver as a client.

Travel Required 10% or less.

Perks and Compensation Pay Range: USD $124,072 – $217,110. All bonuses are discretionary.
