Steer wildlife health operations at Toronto Zoo as the Director of Animal Health, committed to creative veterinary practices and conservation programs in a full time capacity.
This position oversees all aspects of the Wildlife Health Centre, including the animal hospital and quarantine unit. As a leader in wildlife health, you'll guide the development of strategies that prioritize animal welfare while maintaining robust community partnerships. The Director also plays a vital role in compliance with health standards and contributes to conservation efforts on various scales.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the comprehensive One Well-being program
• Develop and nurture relationships with external partners
• Oversee wildlife research and training efforts
• Mentor staff and oversee veterinary training programs
• Maintain accurate veterinary health records and reports
Requirements:
• Veterinary Medicine graduate from recognized college
• 10+ years of zoo or major animal facility experience
• 5+ years in a leadership capacity
• Preference for Board certification in Zoo Medicine
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities
