Job Description: As a member of the Interdisciplinary Team, and under the general direction of the Addictions Counsellor - Degree (Alcohol & Addictions Services Worker), the primary goal will be to restore, maintain and enhance the recovery of people seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related issues by implementing various modalities of addiction recovery programs. Responsibilities include providing informational programming as well as individual and group counselling sessions with clients. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS membersin accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Education Chemical Dependency diploma
Competencies Crisis management skills
Experience Experience in a mental health and addictions program required




Other Education & Training Completed social sciences or human services discipline acceptable to employer
Knowledge & Abilities Ability to conduct individual and group counselling/educational programs
Knowledge of screening and addiction assessment tools and procedures.
Knowledge and understanding of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing workload
Knowledge of aboriginal health issues, culture and traditions
Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Committed to own qualified growth and development
Knowledge in mental health and addictions and concurrent medical conditions
Committed to own professional growth and development
Knowledge of motivational interviewing
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Demonstrated knowledge and ability for competent case management practice
Knowledge in group dynamics

Ability and flexibility in adapting to changing situations and environments
