Intensive Support & Supervision Program Worker (Float)

Position for Youth Addictions programming located in Surrey, BC. This temporary full‑time contract will begin as soon as possible and end upon the return of the incumbent. BCGEU membership required.

Closing date for the posting: Mon, 29 Jun. Closing date for internal applications: Friday, June 5, 2026, at 4:30 PM. If the position is not filled internally, it will remain open until filled.

Hours of Work

Working hours are Sunday to Thursday with a flextime schedule. The employee will work 35 hours per week, which may include evenings and weekends, with core hours of 12 a.m. to 2 p.m. The employee will remain on site during meal periods and will be paid for a 30‑minute lunch break.

Education and Experience Requirements

- Strongly preferred: Bachelor of Arts in social sciences, human services, or a related discipline.
- Minimum: One year of recent experience working with high‑risk youth or in a criminal justice setting, and with families or caregivers.
- BCGEU membership required.

Job Responsibilities

- Plan and implement strategies, activities, and interventions for youth consistent with case‑management objectives developed in consultation with the supervising probation officer.
- Provide intensive, goal‑focused, one‑to‑one supervision and support in the community.
- Monitor compliance with court‑ordered terms, conduct random and periodic curfew checks, assist with reparative conditions, and report non‑compliance to the probation officer.
- Connect youth to community resources that foster educational, personal, social, and vocational skills; provide transportation as needed.




- Engage youth in recreational and social activities that build strengths, develop interpersonal skills, and support cultural engagement.
- Teach life skills and community survival skills; provide advice, assistance, mediation, and crisis intervention.
- Maintain positive relationships with families, caregivers, and significant others; participate as part of a team enhancing the quality of life for youth.
- Participate in integrated case‑management planning, act as the key worker, and coordinate services for youth and families.
- Respond to emergencies, recognize potential crises, analyze situations, implement strategies, and inform the manager.
- Maintain accurate program participant reports, statistics, and documentation in compliance with policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain robust community relationships with formal and informal service providers.
- Protect and uphold confidentiality.
- Perform related duties as required.

- Sensitivity to social realities involving race, culture, religion, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, poverty, and lifestyle.
- Knowledge of issues, trends, and best practices in high‑risk youth services.
- Familiarity with Criminal Justice legislation, Youth Court role, Child Welfare legislation, and related policies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and database systems.

Additional Requirements

- Satisfactory criminal record clearance.
- Valid Basic First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain one).

- Legal authorization to work in Canada on an ongoing basis.
