Seeking a full time Legal Counsel for Yukon Courts, responsible for providing essential legal support and guidance. This role demands expertise in litigation and solicitor work, alongside judicial independence understanding.
As an in-house Legal Counsel, you will perform solicitor duties for the Yukon Courts while working independently from executive and legislative legal branches. Engaging with procedural and substantive legal issues, your work may involve groundbreaking and complex files while ensuring compliance with federal and territorial statutes. You will also supervise the workflow of Judicial Assistants and law students, addressing diverse legal matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide legal counsel for Yukon Courts and judiciary
Handle complex litigation and solicitor-related tasks




Support judicial responsibilities under applicable laws
Supervise Senior Judicial Assistants and students
Engage in procedural law matters and conflict resolutions
Requirements:
Experience in litigation and/or solicitor roles
Membership in valuable standing with Law Society of Yukon
Bilingual English and French considered an asset
Robust communication and analysis skills
Understanding of judicial independence and professionalism
Elevate judicial support and maintain legal integrity as part of the Yukon Courts team.
