Duties
All normal duties related to the design, administration, and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course material; supervision of teaching assistants assigned to the course, if applicable; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculations and submission of grades to university officials; holding regular office hours, and maintaining reasonable availability for student contact. The mode of instruction for the courses is in-person. Candidates are required to travel to UTM to carry out duties.

Salary

Sessional Lecturer I - $9,997.48 inclusive of 4% vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer I - Long Term: $10,699.22 inclusive of 6% vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer II - $10,699.22 inclusive of 6% vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer II - Long Term: $10,953.96 inclusive of 6% vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer III - $10,953.96 inclusive of 6% vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer III - Long Term $11,228.90 inclusive of 6% vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

University of Toronto – CUPE3902 Unit 3 Opportunities:

CCT219H5F – Media Economics I
This course presents economic principles that explain how markets help organize exchange and production among competing but nevertheless cooperating economic units. Theories of consumer demand, the economic nature and function of business firms, optimal business decision rules of monopoly, oligopoly, and anti-combines regulations, as well as game theory, are presented. Efficiency criteria pertaining to the operation of firms and markets, the role of property rights, and the scope for public policy, are also examined.

September 1 to December 31, 2026 (actual work may extend into January 2027)

LEC0101 – Mondays 9am-12pm (day/time subject to change)

Anticipated Enrolment: 105

Estimated TA Support: up to 100 hours, depending on course enrollment

Qualifications:
Demonstrated excellence in teaching. Must have completed a graduate degree specific to the subject matter, preferably a PhD. Experience in teaching a similar topic at the undergraduate level is required. Record of research that reflects the subject matter. Experience and ability to supervise teaching assistants also required.





CCT325H5S – Media Economics II
This course explores macroeconomics through the analysis of national and international crises. The course begins with a discussion of the nature of economics, a brief examination of markets, and a discussion of crisis and growth. We survey the institutions and dynamics of growth in the post WWII period, their breakdown in the 1960s and the spread of international crisis in the 1970s, and the crises of various economic policy responses from the 1980s to the present. After this historical overview, we explore macroeconomic theory and its development over the last 50 years. We study the Keynesian model and its emphasis on employment and output, its crisis in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the rise of monetarist alternatives, the elaboration of aggregate supply and demand models highlighting prices instead of employment, the surge of supply-side and rational expectations economics during the Reagan administration and the continuing debates among economists over the merits and problems of the various theoretical approaches. The course closes with an examination the various forms of crises tied to the emergence of information and communications technologies and the knowledge economy.

January 1 to April 30, 2027 (actual work may extend into May 2027)

Anticipated Enrolment: 145

Estimated TA Support: up to 135 hours, depending on course enrollment
